About me
Mārtiņš Kaprāns is a senior researcher at the University of Latvia’s Institute of Philosophy and Sociology. He earned his PhD in communication science from the same university in 2012 and has since led or contributed to large‑scale projects on Baltic labour migration, Russian‑speaking communities in the Baltic states, and ideological polarization within Baltic societies. In 2023, his monograph on the Latvian migrant community in the United Kingdom was honored as one of Latvia’s most significant scientific achievements. In 2024–25 he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard University’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. Kaprāns’s recent work has appeared in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal of Baltic Studies, Memory Studies, Europe‑Asia Studies, and several international edited volumes.
